Tehran: The body of Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in a US airstrike in Baghdad, will not be buried today. The decision comes as more than 50 people were killed in the stampede in the mourning. 212 people were injured in the rush hour. The Iranian media also confirmed that the culture has been changed due to the people involved in the mourning procession.
When the body of Qasem Soleimani was taken to his hometown of Kirman, tens of thousands arrived for the funeral. In the meantime, the mishap happened. The report was released by the local television channel. Qasem Soleimani’s grave was to be held today. Qasem Soleimani was also Iran’s second-leading spiritual leader.
Meanwhile, the defense ministry dismissed reports that the US would withdraw its troops from Iraq. Some international media outlets have reported that the US military commander in Iraq has written a letter indicating that the army is beginning to withdraw. But US Defense Secretary Mark Esper said he had never considered such a decision.
