Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George has said that precautionary measures are being expedited because of the increasing number of covid cases in the state. Currently, the Omicron variant is spreading. It is reassuring that no new variants have been reported. However, the minister said that the vaccination process would be expedited. Speaking to media persons in Thiruvananthapuram, the minister said that the vaccination of children will be done in schools in collaboration with the education department.
At the same time, the minister added that the investigation will continue to be vigorous in reporting food poisoning in the state. She added that there would be no compromise on the inspection and legal action would be taken if any shortcomings were found.
There is a need for timely reform in the mental health centers in the state. A special meeting was convened for this. Four new staff have been hired for security. She said efforts were being made to implement a rehabilitation plan for those who had undergone treatment.
