Kiev: Six weeks after Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, the number of refugees has risen to more than 4 million, says the head of the UN refugee agency, Filippo Grandi. Grandi tweeted that he had arrived in Lviv, Ukraine, and had been in talks with those concerned to ensure the necessary assistance to those affected by the war and those displaced.
He said it was the largest refugee influx since World War II. The United Nations estimates that 2.3 million people have fled Ukraine to Poland and thousands more to Romania, Moldova and Hungary.
