Alappuzha: The first accused in the Venmani twin murder case, Labilu Hasan, was sentenced to death. The second accused, Jewel Hassan, was sentenced to life imprisonment. Both are Bangladeshi nationals. The verdict was passed by the Mavelikkara Additional Sessions Court. The verdict was handed down in a case of killing a couple and stealing 45 sovereign gold and Rs 17,000.
The incident related to the case took place on November 11, 2019. The murder was planned by the accused who came to work at the couple’s house and found out that there was gold in the house. AP Cherian and his wife Elikutty Cherian were killed by beheading. After the murder, the accused stole 45 sovereigns of gold and Rs 17,000. The suspects, who passed away after the incident, were arrested from the Visakhapatnam railway station.
The court found that all the charges against the accused, including murder, trespassing and robbery, had been proved beyond a reasonable doubt.
