Kochi: Health Minister Veena George has said that test cards will be made available to those above 30 years of age for early detection and treatment of lifestyle diseases. The plan will be prepared at the panchayat level and implemented with the cooperation of the people’s representatives.
The minister said that a people’s campaign will be launched. The Minister was inaugurating the Advanced Gastroenterology Block at Kadavanthra Indira Gandhi Co-operative Hospital.
A cancer registry will be set up in Kerala. This will help identify and prevent the most common types of cancer. Organ transplants are now widely needed, including in young people. Efforts should be made to reduce the huge cost of this. Organ transplant surgery will be started soon at Kottayam Medical College. The Minister also inaugurated a scheme to provide free angioplasty to 100 needy patients in the Ernakulam Parliamentary constituency.
