Kabul: A Taliban government spokesman in Afghanistan has said four women have been killed in the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif. The bodies of the slain women were found in a house in the city. Interior Ministry spokesman Qari Syed Khosti said two suspects had been arrested in the incident.
“The detainees admitted at preliminary questioning that they had invited the women home. “Further investigation is underway and the case has been referred to the court,” he said. Frozan Safi, also an economics teacher, was killed. The body of Safi, who went missing on October 20, was found in the city of Mazar-e Sharif. This is the first time such an incident has been reported since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.
Safi’s sister, Rita, said they recognized her by the clothes she was wearing and that the bullets had disfigured her face.
Fearing retaliation from the Taliban, Safi sought refuge in Germany. The sister said that Safi had left the house with the documents after receiving a phone call from an unknown person that he could help her leave the country safely. However, the Taliban claimed that hostilities between individuals were behind the incident.
