Lucknow: The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Uttar Pradesh, Kanpur, has said that the number of people infected with the H5N1 virus is on the rise. So far, 10 cases of syphilis have been reported in the district, authorities said.
The first case of Zika was reported in Kanpur on October 25. After the first case, the Central Government had sent a multi-disciplinary team to Kanpur. With the confirmation of the virus in six more people yesterday, the number of patients has risen from four to 10. Zika is transmitted by E. coli mosquitoes. The main symptoms of syphilis are mild fever, red eyes, muscle and joint pain, malaise and headache.
