Kozhikode: The central team is visiting Chathamangalam Munnur where Nipah disease has been confirmed in the state. The team visited the place where the dead child is believed to have eaten rambutan. The team also collected rambutan samples from here. Meanwhile, a meeting of the heads of the medical college departments will be convened shortly to assess the preventive action. A group of ministers, including the health minister, arrived at the medical college to attend the meeting.
The National Center for Disease Control team arrived in Kozhikode. A traffic control has been imposed near the house of a 12-year-old who died of the disease. The control is within a three-kilometer radius. The ninth ward of Chathamangalam panchayath has been closed. Nearby wards were partially closed.
Meanwhile, the health department has directed the locals to be extra vigilant. Those with symptoms are advised to contact the health department immediately.
