Kollam: The court again rejected the second bail application of Kiran Kumar, who is in jail in the Vismaya dowry death case. The court observed that Kiran Kumar was not eligible for bail. Kollam District Sessions Judge KV Jayakumar rejected his bail application.
The prosecution’s demand for a speedy trial is justified. The court also ruled that individual liberty and the social relevance of the allegations must be balanced.
Kiran Kumar was dismissed from government service. Kirankumar claimed that it was illegal for the Department of Motor Vehicles to convict him before the court finds him guilty. But the court did not accept this. With the omission of Adv.BA Alur, Adv. Prathapa Chandran was present.
Vismaya was found hanging on June 21 at her husband’s house in Poruvazhi, Kollam. Dowry torture is alleged to be a subsequent murder. Kiran has been charged with dowry abuse and domestic violence.
