Mumbai: Five people have been killed in a landslide in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. It is suspected that 30 people were trapped in the area. 15 people were rescued. The landslide occurred in Kalai village in Raigad district. Heavy rains continue in Maharashtra. The Met Office has warned of heavy rains for the next three days. Red and orange alerts have been issued based on this. The village was reportedly isolated due to floods and landslides caused by heavy rains. District Collector Nidhi Chaudhary said the roads were submerged and damaged by landslides, making it difficult to reach the village.
The Savitri and Konya rivers in Maharashtra are dangerously overflowing due to heavy rains. He sought the help of the National Disaster Response Force for the rescue operation. Minister Aditya Thackeray said he had sought the help of the army to rescue the villagers trapped in Mahad. Heavy rains continue in the Konkan region as well. Train traffic on this route has been suspended. As many as 10 state highways, 29 district highways, and 18 rural roads in Maharashtra have been submerged due to the floods.
