Thiruvananthapuram: The Met Office has forecast heavy rains in the northern districts of the state today. An orange alert has been declared in Kasargod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Malappuram districts. A yellow alert has been declared in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Palakkad districts
The monsoon, which had been slow in recent days, was active two days ago. The heavy rains were caused by the intensification of monsoon winds in the Arabian Sea. Widespread rain is forecast until Wednesday.
