Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George has reiterated that there has been no lapse in reporting Covid deaths in the state. The health minister said she would look into any discrepancies in the list of covid deaths. The government has not hidden the death toll, the health minister said at a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram.
‘Death is determined by doctors. Now it is more transparent. The criteria for determining death are not set by the state government. Deaths are determined under the guidance of the ICMR and the WHO. If the Union Ministry of Health suggests changes in this, it will be considered. The government’s position is to provide maximum assistance to the people. Complaints regarding Covid deaths should be reported in writing. “Even if the complaint is submitted by email, it will be looked into,” she added.
Meanwhile, the central government is planning to visit six states in the country where the spread of Covid is rampant. As part of this, the Central Health Team will visit Kerala. After Kerala, the central team will inspect Arunachal, Odisha, Tripura, and Manipal.
