Mangalore: Karnataka has said that those who have taken at least one dose of the vaccine from Kerala to Karnataka do not need an RTPCR negative certificate. In the first order issued yesterday, the exemption was given only to those who received two doses.
Children under the age of two do not need an RTPCR negative test result. Those who have not received the vaccine must produce the RTPCR negative test report taken within 72 hours.
According to the first order, a negative certificate was mandatory for all persons coming to Karnataka. Of these, two concessions have now been granted. The order also applies to the bus, train, and air passengers coming from Kerala. Conductors on buses and TTs on trains should ensure that there is a negative inspection report. The flight must be accompanied by a boarding pass and a negative certificate.
The inspections started on Monday at district boundaries in Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar, and Mysore but were not strict. The order says that those who come to Karnataka daily for educational and employment purposes should produce the RTPCR negative certificate taken once in two weeks.
Health workers are excluded from the order. Samples will be collected and examined after taking the phone numbers and addresses of those coming to Karnataka for urgent needs like death and treatment.
Violators will be prosecuted under the State Disaster Prevention Act. Those arriving from Maharashtra who has been vaccinated with a single dose are exempted from the condition.
The Karnataka government says the current situation in Kerala is satisfactory but the condition is to remain vigilant.
