New Delhi: Anup Chandra Pandey has been appointed as the new Central Election Commissioner. The appointment follows a vacancy in the Central Election Commission (CEC) panel following the retirement of Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora. Anup Chandra Pandey is a retired IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Anup Chandra Pandey, who was given a six-month extension as Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary, retired in August 2019. Anup Chandra Pandey is a 1948 batch IAS officer.
