New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced welfare schemes including financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh for children who have lost their parents due to Covid. 10 lakhs will be fixed deposit in their name in the bank till the age of 18 years. With this amount, a monthly stipend of 18 to 23 years will be paid. It can be used for higher education and personal use. The total amount will be paid at the age of 23.
Schooling will be free. Those below 10 years of age can study at a nearby Kendriya Vidyalaya or a private school. Fees, uniforms, and book expenses will be borne by the PM Cares Fund. Above the age of 10, it will be taught in residential schools like Sainik School and Navodaya.
