Kochi: The High Court stayed the action of the Election Commission in blocking the distribution of special rice. The High Court granted the stay on an appeal filed by the government. The High Court said the distribution of rice should not be used for electioneering or to influence voters.
The High Court issued the interim order on a government appeal against the Election Commission’s decision to block the distribution of special rice to non-priority sections. The state government can go ahead with the distribution of rice.
But the order also says that rice distribution should not be used to influence voters. Justice P.V. Asha’s bench considered the petition.
