Mumbai: three people have been killed in a fire at the Dreams Mall in Bhandup, Mumbai. As a result, more than 70 Covid patients were evacuated from the mall’s hospital. Three people were killed in the blaze.
The fire broke out around midnight yesterday. 22 fire engines rushed Dreams Mall to Sunrise Hospital. More than 70 Covid patients were being treated at the hospital at the time of the incident. The cause of the fire is not yet clear.
The fire broke out on the first floor of Dreams Mall. The flames rose to the Sunrise Hospital, which is located on the top floor. All patients were evacuated immediately following the immediate warning. Firefighters recovered three bodies from the wreckage of the blaze.
All patients at Sunrise Hospital were immediately transferred to the Jumbo Covid Center and nearby private hospitals. The timely intervention of the Mumbai Police and Fire Brigade saved many lives, hospital officials said.
Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar told the media that this is the first time has seen a hospital in the mall and that it is a very serious condition. Seven patients were on the ventilator. 70 patients were taken to another hospital. The mayor said a detailed investigation into the incident has been ordered.
