Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted bail to Nodeep Kaur, a Dalit activist arrested for supporting the farmers’ agitation. It was alleged that Nodeep Kaur was beaten in police custody.
Dalit activist Nodeep Kaur was taken into custody by Haryana police on January 12 from Sonipat in Haryana. The arrest was made while he was active in the peasant struggle. Nodeep Kaur is accused of assaulting management representatives and employees of a business in Kundali. The bail application stated that the male police officer was brutally beaten while in police custody. Nodeep Kaur was granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday.
