New Delhi: The Central government has beefed up security at the home and office of National Security Adviser Ajit Doval following the terror threat. The move follows the arrest of Hidayatullah Malik, a suspected Jaish-e-Muhammad militant. Details have been handed over to the Union Home Ministry and security agencies.
It is alleged that Jaish-e-Muhammad had leaked information that the Sardar Patel Bhavan and other high-ranking centers in the national capital were targeting Ajit Doval on instructions from Pakistan. Ajit Doval has been a key target of Pakistani terrorist organizations since the 2016 Uri attacks and the 2019 Balakot airstrikes.
Following Malik’s arrest on February 6, investigators questioned some people in connection with the case. Two residents of Shopian, Hidayatullah Malik’s wife, a college student from Chandigarh, and a Bihar native were questioned.
Malik, a native of Shopian, was arrested with weapons and ammunition. A vehicle was also seized during the arrest. A case has been registered at the Gangyal police station after Malik, the leader of the Jaish Front group Lashkar-e-Mustafa, was arrested in Anantnag.
