Thiruvananthapuram: The Aadhaar number is no longer mandatory for birth and death registrations, the Registrar General’s Office said. The Registrar General’s Office said in a circular issued in April last year that birth and death registration would be accepted as an Aadhaar identification document. Applicants can decide whether to produce Aadhaar or not. Avoid recording Aadhaar number in official documents. It was also stated that the first 8 digits should be covered with black ink as soon as they are recorded.
