Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rains are likely in southern Kerala from Friday. Orange alert announced in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts. An orange alert will be issued in Kozhikode and Wayanad districts on Saturday.
The State Disaster Management Authority has issued a warning for fishermen. It has been suggested that fishing should not take place on the Kerala-Karnataka coasts from June 24 to June 26. Meanwhile, as the rain continues to fall in Kerala, the Disaster Response Authority has issued a special alert in the hilly areas.
The Disaster Response Authority said that overnight travel to the hilly areas of Kozhikode, Kannur, Ernakulam, Kottayam, and Idukki districts and other districts where rainfall is continuing should be avoided. The Disaster Response Authority has recommended that the Police, Fire and Rescue, Revenue Officers and Local Authorities in the hilly areas of the State should be vigilant and be prepared to act immediately upon receiving an alert.
