New Delhi: The Election Commission has postponed the by-polls for 15 seats in Karnataka.
The Election Commission has announced that the by-election will be postponed as the Supreme Court is considering a petition against the disqualification of rebel MLAs. Elections are likely to go on until the petition against disqualification is decided.
The plea filed by the MLAs in response to the disqualification of the Speaker will be considered on November 22. The Election Commission has announced its willingness to postpone the by-election.A three-member bench headed by Justice NV Ramana is considering a petition against the disqualification of 17 rebel MLAs. Besides, all the advocates of the dissident legislators and other party’s advocates have stated that there is no disagreement in postponing the by-election.
