Muzaffarpur: Twenty more children died from a brain stroke in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district Sunday. The number of children who died of brain fever this month has risen to 93. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan visited Muzaffarpur on Sunday.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who expressed grief over the deaths of children, announced compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the dead children. According to a press release issued by the Muzaffarpur district, 93 children died in the Kejriwal hospital and state-owned Srikrishna Medical College Hospital (SKMCH) until Sunday. Most of them are under the age of ten. The most common cause of death in most children is hypoglycemia, which is caused by an excessive decrease in blood sugar and electrolyte imbalance.
SKMCH has been treating 197 children with hypoglycemia since June 1. Most of them were diagnosed with hypoglycemia.
