New Delhi: The Supreme Court has confirmed the anticipatory bail of actor Siddique in the sexual assault case. The Supreme Court had granted interim bail to Siddique in the case. It has now been confirmed. The Supreme Court granted bail considering the delay in filing the complaint. The court has made it clear that he should not leave the country, submit his passport to prove it, and cooperate with the investigation. The bail was granted by a bench of Justices Bela M. Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma.

Now, even if Siddique is arrested as part of the investigation, bail will have to be granted as per the directions of the trial court. The Supreme Court has also made it clear that the trial court can decide the bail conditions. The court’s verdict has shattered the expectations of the investigation team.

The case was registered in 2024 in the incident alleged to have taken place in 2016. The complainant has not been able to provide a proper explanation for the delay in filing the complaint. Siddique appeared before the investigation team twice after being granted interim anticipatory bail. Siddique had also informed the court that the reason why the investigating officers did not arrest him was due to lack of evidence.
