Gaza; At least 28 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a school housing refugees in the central Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Red Crescent said. The attack was on the Rufaida Al Aslamiya school in the town of Deir al-Balah. More than 50 people were injured in the attack.
A video from the scene shows the area covered in smoke, people running to help the injured and several children being treated at the local Al-Aqsa Hospital. The Israeli military claimed that the attack targeted Hamas fighters working in the school’s command and control center.
The 1.9 million Palestinians who fled their homes following the year-long Israeli massacre in Gaza are being sheltered in various schools. Alleging that these shelters are becoming command centers for Hamas, the Israeli army is targeting them.
More than 42,060 people have been killed in Gaza so far in the offensive that began on October 7, 2023, according to the territory’s Gaza Ministry of Health.
