Ranchi: The Supreme Court rejected the appeal filed by the Enforcement Directorate seeking cancellation of the bail of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The action of the Supreme Court observed that the judgment of the High Court granting bail was reasonable. Hemant Soren’s appeal was rejected by the Ranchi High Court seeking to quash the bail.
The court rejected the ED’s contention that the High Court verdict would affect the trial. The Supreme Court clarified that the observations in the High Court order will not affect the trial. A bench comprising Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan heard the petition. On June 28, the High Court granted bail to Hemant Soren. The ED’s contention was that the judgment was flawed and the bail was granted without examining the facts of the case. According to the ED petition, the High Court erred in saying that there is no prima facie case against Hemant Soren.
