Srinagar: In an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam, six people, including a senior Hizbul Mujahideen commander, were killed by the army. Two jawans martyred. Clashes took place at two places in Kulgam. Later there was a terrorist attack in Rajouri too.
The first firing took place in Modergam village of Kulgam. On Saturday afternoon, the terrorists opened fire on the soldiers who came for security inspection in the area. The dead bodies of two terrorists were recovered from here. The army confirmed the death of Hizbul Mujahideen senior commander Farooq Ahmed. The army said the search is on.
Army killed four terrorists in an encounter in Chinnigam. Yawar Basheer, Zahid Ahmed Dar, Tauheed Ahmed Rather and Shakeel Ahmed Vanila have been identified. There are indications that more terrorists have been killed.
Lance Naik Pradeep Nain and Havildar Rajkumar were killed in the encounter. Terrorists fired at army camp in Rajouri. The army then retaliated. One soldier was injured in the encounter. The army is continuing to search the area to find the terrorists who opened fire. On the 26th of last month, firing took place for more than six hours in Doda district of Kashmir. Six security personnel were injured in the June 11 encounter.
