Kuwait City: Kuwait has launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to the fire that led to the mass death of workers.
The initial report was that a cooking gas cylinder belonging to an Egyptian citizen, a security guard at the residential complex, had exploded. However, there is no confirmation in this regard. Some local media reported that the cause was a cooking gas leak on the ground floor of the building. It is also said that short circuit led to the accident.
Colonel Saeed Al Mousawi, head of the Kuwait Fire Department, said that the material used to separate the rooms in the apartment was flammable. This caused black smoke throughout the building. The workers ran to the stairs and died of smoke inhalation. The door to the terrace was locked. Moosawi said that no one could escape here.
