Eight people died when a huge billboard collapsed during a heavy dust storm in Mumbai. The signboard near the police ground petrol pump in Ghadkopar near the Eastern Express Highway collapsed. Police informed that eight people died and 59 people were injured.
The board was on the opposite side of the pump. But the board collapsed towards the center of the pump. Many vehicles were stuck after the accident. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) led the rescue operation. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that an inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
The city of Mumbai was engulfed in a dust storm at around 3:30 pm today. Air, train and metro services have also been disrupted in many parts of the city due to the dust storm. Power supply has also stopped in many areas.
