THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A section of state government employees and teachers led by opposition organizations will go on strike today to raise various demands. The Secretariat Action Council had informed that Secretariat employees will participate in the indicative strike on various demands. Meanwhile, the government has announced measures including diaz non to deal with the strike.
The strike is for granting 6 installments (18%) of DA, reinstatement of leave surrender, sanction of pay revision arrears, withdrawal of contributory pension and restoration of statutory pension, rectification of Medsep anomalies, check on price hike, appointment of 12th Pay Commission and preservation of secretariat service.
At the same time, the government has announced tough measures to counter the strike. Today’s salary will be deducted from the salary of February for those who are affected by diaznon. Temporary employees who are absent without permission on the day of strike will be removed from service. Essential services should not be disrupted and no leave of any kind should be allowed on January 24, 2024 except in cases of emergency.
Leave should be granted only in case of illness or unavoidable circumstances of the employee or close relatives. Employees who indulge in acts of violence or vandalize public property will be prosecuted. The order also stated that if the temporary employees do not show up, they will be dismissed.
