Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George said that antibiotics will no longer be dispensed through medical stores without a doctor’s prescription. Strict action will be taken if antibiotics are given without a prescription. The minister also said that licenses of pharmacies and medical stores will be canceled. The public can also be informed in this regard.
The health minister said that the propaganda that there is no medicine in government hospitals is baseless. Efforts are being made to carry out drug-related matters systematically. Drugs worth Rs 627 crore have been procured so far this financial year. There is plenty of medicine in stock. The minister also pointed out that hospitals have been instructed to purchase 20 percent of medicines in the next attempt.
There is currently no cause for concern. Problems will be resolved if any. People should be careful not to go and buy antibiotics themselves. Increasing number of patients is a problem. The minister also stated that efforts are being made to buy medicine as it increases.
