Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George’s personal staff Akhil Mathew and former CITu Pathanamthitta district office secretary Akhil Sajeev have been accused of accepting bribes. The complaint was filed by Haridasan, a resident of Mallappuram. According to the complaint, he was offered the appointment of a medical officer and received money in installments. Fifteen lakh rupees including ten lakh rupees were demanded for fixing the five lakh rupees for the temporary law. The complaint also states that he was assured that the appointment would be fixed before the change of administration. Meanwhile, the health minister’s office said Akhil Mathew had not received the money and asked the DGP to investigate the complaint. The DGP’s office forwarded the complaint filed by the minister’s office to the city police commissioner. Health Minister Veena George has stated that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the incident, who is involved and whether there is any conspiracy and strong action should be taken.
