Mumbai: Search is in progress in Maharashtra’s Raigad landslide. So far 16 people have died in the disaster. 23 people were rescued. A landslide occurred in Irshalwadi village of Raigad at around 10:30 pm on Wednesday.
About 50 houses collapsed. About 100 people were injured. The search is in progress under the leadership of the National Disaster Response Force with the help of a dog squad. Heavy rains continued in Raigad and the rescue operation was hampered. The threat of landslides still exists in the region.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the accident site and announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the family members of the deceased. Apart from Raigad, Thane and Palghad districts are on red alert. An orange alert has also been announced in Mumbai.
