Transport Minister Antony Raju has announced that fines will be levied from June 5 for traffic violations detected by the newly installed AI cameras in the state. Until the decision of the central government comes, there will be no penalty for traveling with a child below 12 years of age on a two-wheeler.
The AI cameras are capable of detecting a variety of traffic violations, including:
- Using a mobile phone while driving
- Speeding
- Driving without a seat belt
- Driving without a helmet
- Unauthorized parking
The fines for these violations will range from Rs 500 to Rs 2,000.
The AI cameras are part of a new traffic enforcement system that the government is implementing in an effort to reduce traffic accidents and fatalities. The system also includes a centralized command and control center that will monitor the cameras and issue fines to violators.
