New Delhi: The spread of Covid in the country is intensifying. Daily covid cases have crossed 11,000. In the last 24 hours, 11,109 people have been diagnosed with the disease.
An increase of 9 percent has been recorded today over the previous day. With this, the number of active cases in the country has increased to 49,622. According to the data of the Union Health Ministry, this is the highest daily covid count in 236 days.
The death toll rose to 5,31,064 with 29 deaths. One death each was reported from Delhi and Rajasthan, three from Chhattisgarh and Punjab, and two each from Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
It is the second day in a row that the daily covid cases are above 10,000. Yesterday alone, 30 percent more covid cases were reported compared to the previous day. In the current scenario, the health ministry has estimated that the number of covid cases will increase in the next 10-12 days and then decrease.
It is reported that daily cases of covid in Delhi and Maharashtra are above 1000. The omicron substrain (XBB.1.16) is prevalent in the country. The Center has asked the states to continue vigilance and wear masks.
