New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi filed an appeal against the CJM court verdict in the criminal defamation case. Rahul came in person and appealed to the Surat Sessions Court. The court will hear Rahul’s appeal on April 13.
The appeal has been filed seeking quashing of the March 23 order of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, which sentenced him to two years imprisonment in a criminal defamation case for defaming the Modi community. Surat Sessions Court extended Rahul Gandhi’s bail till April 13 in the case. Then the petition will be considered again on the 13th of this month. Rahul Gandhi personally came and submitted the appeal in the case.
At the same time, the court also directed the complainant to file a reply before April 10. Along with Rahul, senior leaders like Priyanka Gandhi and KC Venugopal also came to Surat. Congress Chief Ministers Ashok Gehlot and Bhupesh Bagal received Rahul Gandhi in Surat.
Rahul was punished on the complaint of BJP MLA Purnesh Modi that he insulted the entire Modi community while criticizing the Prime Minister. Later he was disqualified from the post of MP. At the same time, the Patna court has also issued a notice to Rahul. The court issued the notice on a complaint filed by BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi asking him to appear on April 12.
