New Delhi: Suspension of 11 policemen who failed in the investigation of Delhi Kanjhawala case. The suspension is for those who were in the control room and picket duties. The action is as per the instructions of the Union Home Ministry.
It has been alleged against the police that the girl was trapped under the car despite being called by the eyewitnesses. The action was also prompted by the inability to locate the vehicle even after New Year’s Day. Two sub-inspectors, four assistant sub-inspectors, four head constables, and one constable have been suspended.
The Ministry of Home Affairs had earlier instructed the police to take action against the police officers who were deployed on duty at night on the day of the incident. The Delhi Police submitted a detailed report of the incident to the Home Ministry last day. On the morning of New Year’s Day, a car carrying 5 drunken youths hit the scooter Anjali Singh was riding and was dragged for 12 km. A forensic team from Gujarat is investigating the incident.
