New Delhi: Severe winter and fog continue in North India. Following this, a red alert was issued in four states.
The weather department has informed us that the extreme cold will continue for two to three more days. Schools in Delhi have been declared closed till the 15th of this month.
In Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, schools have been declared closed till the 14th of this month. A red alert has been issued in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, while an orange alert has been issued in the states of Rajasthan and Bihar.
The Meteorological Department has informed us that heavy fog will continue in North India for another 48 hours. Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 1.9 degrees. In many parts of North India, the temperature has been between two to four degrees for the past two days.
Continued extreme cold and fog in north India affected air and rail transport. 88 trains were canceled yesterday due to heavy fog. 335 are delayed. All 25 flights from Delhi were delayed on Sunday. The warning is that the winter wave will continue for two more days.
Visibility was zero in Bhatinda in Punjab and Agra in UP. Visibility between zero and 50 is considered very heavy fog. Weather officials warned that prolonged exposure to extreme cold can cause frostbite. It is recommended to eat fruits rich in vitamin C and drink plenty of water.
