Brazilia: Left-wing leader Lula da Silva wins the Brazilian presidential election. Lula defeated Bolsonaro with more than 50 percent of the vote.
Brazil’s streets are already celebrating Lula’s victory. From the destruction of the Amazon forest and the turning away of tribal groups, to the fallout during the Covid era, Bolsonaro’s chair was thrown out.
Lula, also a former president, promised to move Brazil away from the reactionary policies that had pushed it to the right. Lula, the leader of the left-wing Workers’ Party, will be sworn in as president tomorrow.
