Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has made special provisions for four lakh Anganwadi-pre-school children in the state from Monday. The menu has been revised to incorporate the Nutritious Childhood Project. It will also be implemented in 33,115 Anganwadis under the Department of Women and Child Development. Minister Veena George announced that Rs 61.5 crore has been allocated.
The state-level inauguration will be done by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at DPI Jawahar Cooperative Bhavan on Monday the 12th. Milk required for the project will be delivered directly to Anganwadis through Milma, the local dairy society, Kudumbashree, and dairy farmers. Milma’s UHT milk will be delivered to 220 Anganwadis in hilly rural areas. Eggs are procured from Kudumbashree Poultry Farms or locally.
