Mangaluru: In the wake of two murders in the past one week, the police have tightened surveillance in Mangalore, Karnataka. A curfew has been announced in Mangaluru till Saturday. Apart from Mangaluru, the police have also announced prohibitory orders in Panambur, Bajpai, Mulki and Suratkal.
The police have been strictly instructed to be vigilant to prevent further violence related to the double murders. Schools and colleges were closed. Liquor shops will also not function. 19 temporary check posts have been established for surveillance.
More police have been deployed in Kannur, Kasaragod and Wayanad districts. Police Commissioner N Sasikumar also asked to perform namaz at home on Friday. All vehicles are passed after strict inspection. Apart from Dakshina Kannada districts, security has also been beefed up in Kerala border areas.
The commissioner also said that after 10 pm, only unavoidable essential travel will be allowed. Meanwhile, the post-mortem process of Fazil, who was killed in Surat Kallam, has been completed. The body was handed over to the relatives.
